Indiegogo Campaign Details:
This summer, with your help, we raised $5,786! Our initial goal of $1400 was met within a week. These funds were used to cover expenses for our start-up as a nonprofit fees, website & logo design costs as well as purchasing the “perks” for the campaign. Perks were purchased this month and will be shipped out in August. For those who donated $250 or more to the campaign, your names are noted as founding members of Elephantopia on our website.
The remaining four weeks of the campaign were used to fundraise for Kavala, an orphaned elephant cared for in Zambia by GRI Elephant Orphanage Project. The approximate cost to sponsor Kavala is $1000USD a month. In July, we sent GRI $3,000 to cover Kavala’s first quarter of care. We are also well on our way to fundraising the second quarter of care with the remaining Indiegogo Campaign funds.
You can read about Kavala’s move from the Lilayi Nursery to Kafue National Park HERE. Below is a sweet picture of Kavala and her friend at Kafue taking an afternoon snooze. Thank you again for being a part of her life!
March for Elephants:
We are still in the process of finalizing the location for our march. However, we have some exciting plans underway that include a live band, face painting, elephant education games and more! The event will be open for the whole family from 11am-1pm on October 4, 2014.
Help us spread the word by wearing these shirts and gear and say NO to IVORY wherever you are!

Tanya Celia:
This necklace, designed by Tanya Celia, is full of meaning for elephant-advcoates of all ages. For thousands of years, turquoise has spanned all cultures, prized as a symbol of wisdom, nobility and the power of immortality. Likewise, elephants have long been regarded as wise and have long lives. The white stone symbolize the tusks of the elephant. The red coral colored stone symbolizes energy and the life force all animals on the planet. By purchasing this limited edition necklace, you are helping to ensure long survival for African elephants as we fight against the illegal ivory trade supporting elephant orphans like Kavala through GRI Elephant Orphanage. Fill out the form below if you are interested in pre-ordering the necklace. There are only 100 being created and will be sold for $50 a piece.
This design is spectacular! You certainly know how to keep a reader entertained.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
Too cool!
