Elephants are the largest land mammals on this planet. Yet these gentle giants are on the verge of extinction. By the time you’ve finished checking out this site, an elephant has been killed for their ivory tusks – on average, one elephant is killed every 15 minutes. That’s 96 elephants a day. In 2013, it was estimated that 20,000 elephants were killed. With less than 500,000 elephants left in the wild, these magnificent mammals may be extinct by 2025!
But not on our watch!
Our goals are simple: Save Elephants, Build Community. And these goals are intrinsically linked together. Elephants live in community – they cannot survive on their own (even mature bull elephants congregate together in bachelor herds!) As we build a community of people committed to raising awareness about elephants & ending the ivory trade, we can bring change at a local, national and even international level through protests, petitions, marches and more. We can also save elephants by supporting organizations in Africa who care for orphaned elephant victims of the ivory trade. Elephantopia has partnered with GRI Elephant Orphanage Project in Zambia and is committed, with the support a community of people like you, to covering the costs of Kavalamanja.
