A Prayer

Daphne Sheldrick of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, shared this prayer on Elephant Advocacy earlier this week. No matter what your system of belief may be, may this prayer bring peace to many who are troubled by the recent elephant killing spree in Chad. May this prayer bring encouragement to those local individuals who are creating positive futures for elephants by raising public awareness, writing to local governments and signing petitions. May this prayer lead us all to action. The elephant depends on us all to unite and change the world. For good.

A PRAYER

I long for a day when all people will understand just how sophisticated elephants are and how essential to the wild places they inhabit, and that the natural world, of which they are an integral part, would be irreparably poorer without them, for the fortunes of many other species rely on them.

I also pray that the day will dawn when all mankind will afford elephants the reverence and esteem they deserve, understanding that we cannot live in isolation.

It is within the wider natural world that the human spirit is restored and that trials and tribulations gain perspective, leaving one refreshed, renewed and at peace with oneself.
