GMFER 2015 Coming to Your City Soon!
The statistics are grim -
but that’s all the more reason why we are joining over 80 other cities worldwide for the third annual GMFER - Global March for Elephants and Rhinos this October 3, 2015.
Gainesville, FL: Our main location this year will take place in Gainesville. At 4pm head out to First Magnitude to check out some local bands, sign a letter to FL legislaters calling for an ivory ban in our state, write a thank you note to rangers in Zambia and become a foster parent for Kavala, an orphaned elephant victim of the ivory trade (and of course, enjoy the local brews from the FMBrewing Co). RSVP for the event HERE. Then on Sunday, we are partnering with Conservation Initiative for the Asian Elephant for a march that will begin at 10:30am on UF’s campus at the Plaza of the Americas. The march will end at the Hippodrome.
Houston, TX: Ana Shah is organizing a fundraiser to benefit Save Elephant Foundation in Thailand. The fundraiser will be held at Khon’s Wine and Beer Bar from 7-10pm on October 3, 2015. Learn more about this event HERE.
Social Media Event: Not in Gainesville or Houston? Then join us online! We are partnering with Paws with a Cause led by board member Drusti Klein to get our furry friends involved with the GMFER. On October 3, be sure to post pictures of your paws supporting the #SayNoToIvory campaign! More details to follow.
